Hush Hush Sweet Harlot is a music series started by Sidney Alexis in the
fall of 2003. Laurel Brauns took over the booking in January 2005 and
Jay Boucher began his current booking reign in January 2007.
The purpose of the series is to provide a smaller venue for music in the
NH Seacoast. Manager Cresta Smith has created an atmosphere that
is mysterious, historic, and dreamy - making it the perfect room to absorb
the quieter side of indie-rock, alternative, and americana.
Each Monday night, the series brings in artists from the Northeast along
with national touring acts traveling through Boston and Portland.
Over the last few years we’ve had John Vanderslice, Jason Anderson, Tigersaw,
Unbunny, Jana Hunter, Soltero, Seekonk, Jon Nolan, The Texas Governor,
Mittens, Charalambides, Stephen Brodsky, Feathers, Barn Burning, The
Places, Elsa Cross, and Phantom Buffalo to list just a few.
Shows start at 8pm and there is a small five dollar suggested donation going right to
the performers.
This has been an amazing year for us with lots of great performances and
an awesome write up in Pitchfork by Chris Dahlen. We'd like to thank
Pro-Portsmouth, Dave Karlotski and The Wire for putting on a bunch of
amazing street shows last summer that happened to feature quite a few Hush
Hush regulars.

We are only looking for original music that will work in this setting. Please send a short description of your music via email before submitting a press-kit. Although we've occasionally made exceptions for national touring acts, we only host shows on Monday Nights.
